The UNWTO.TEDQUAL qualification is a certification issued by United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) to assure the quality of tourism education and training programmes at tourism educational institutes around the world. The Department of Tourism Studies (DTS), Faculty of Management (FOM) of Uva Wellassa University, Sri Lanka started the process of obtaining UNWTO.TEDQUAL Certification for Bachelor of Business Management Hons in Hospitality, Tourism and Events Management (HTE) Degree programme in 2020. It passed all the 08 mandatory steps including an external audit conducted by Dr. Aurora Pedro, an experienced auditor appointed by the UNWTO.ย
Today, exactly after 03 years (2023/03/31), cheerfully we announced that we have been successful to gain the UNWTO.TEDQUAL Certification for 03 years. This remarks as the very first in Sri Lanka who was acquired a UNWTO qualification for a degree in education system.ย
