The Department of Tourism Studies of the Faculty of Management of Uva Wellassa University celebrated in honor of World Tourism Day, which is fallen on September 27 every year. The theme of this year’s Tourism Day celebration was “Tourism and Green Investments”. Prof. Jayantha Lal Ratnasekera, Vice-Chancellor of Uva Wellassa University, participated as the event’s chief guest. In addition, the deans, heads of departments and lecturers of Uva Wellassa University and representative from Ministry of Tourism, Uva Province also took part in this event. Dr. Shaffaath Amidon, the director of M & S Travel Solutions was delivered the keynote address.
In addition to this program, the Department of Tourism Studies launched its YouTube channel (https://youtube.com/@UWUTOURISM196?si=jQU7tfqcItknyt65) and the third volume of “WOW” magazine (https://online.pubhtml5.com/uqks/bnlv/) . A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was also signed for the betterment of undergraduates as a unique aspect of this event with M & S Travel Solutions.
